Is Caviar Halal in Islam?

As generations after generations passed, we have become accustomed to all the different religious beliefs of people. We live alongside others who have different insights about faith but we are all equal and though there were a lot of misunderstandings in the past, now we have come to respect each individual’s faith.
Halal has been popularized around the world but has been practised in Islam for over centuries. Dhabiha is the Islamic way of killing animals or poultry by cutting through a jugular vein, carotid artery and windpipe. After killing, they offer prayer and drain out all the blood.

Where Do Caviars Come From?

So there are a lot of questions raised about beluga caviar and if it’s halal. We all know that caviar is eggs from sturgeon fish that is removed from the mother before it fully develops and hatches, cleaned, processed, packed and sold. All this waiting for a fish to get pregnant with quality eggs to pass the standards of making caviar is painstakingly long and some processes might take months or years depending on the breed.

It is not even guaranteed that breeding can have a good outcome. You cannot guarantee a fish to be able to breed and once it has eggs, it will take a while to be able to breed again. Sometimes, these fish only have a short lifespan and cannot breed again. These are all the problems of breeding and producing quality caviars. All your resources might go to waste if there are no positive results and that is why beluga caviar is rare and expensive.

So Is Caviar Halal?

According to Lum’ a “the eggs of the fish follow the fish itself. And if there is any suspicion, the hard eggs should be eaten, not the soft.” Now, we have an answer. It means that you have to check the quality of the caviar before eating.
Also, as per Islam rules, only fish with scales can be eaten. This was mentioned several times and all followers of the Koran have a very strong faith and follow these strict rules. Nowadays, we see halal certified food and products everywhere so that those who follow halal won’t be confused.

It is scary to make even an honest mistake when it comes to their food and the products they use for this has been a practice for so long and with the modernization of the world, a lot of fake products and food have risen that can contradict to their beliefs.

Conclusion

Now we know that caviar from fish with scales are halal certified. Also, make sure that there are only hard eggs because that is what’s allowed. Now, you can enjoy luxury in food that can be consumed by anyone.

We all have our differences and we should help each other understand and respect one another. In a world full of violence, we should start sending out love and peace. So, if you have a friend or loved one who practices Islam, don’t hesitate to ask questions so you could also learn from them.
